peek properties
A high performance, high temperature polymer offering a complete range of vital properties
VICTREX® PEEK polymers have been used for over 30 years as a replacement for metal and other plastics. It is a unique thermoplastic in that it has a unique combination of properties that help enhance energy equipment, parts and production applications. When an end use application demands a combination of three or more performance properties our polyaryletherketones offer a tremendous material advantage with unmatched versatility. This ability to combine properties without sacrificing performance allows our materials to perform in a wide variety of operating conditions and broad range of applications.
High performance in temperature extremes
Continuous operating temperature of 260°C (500°F); short term properties at a continuous temperature of up to 360ºC (680°F); reliable performance properties in sub-zero temperatures without embrittlement. VICTREX® HT™ and VICTREX® ST™ range of polymer grades are available for the most demanding high temperature environments.
Chemical resistance
Resistant to a wide range of chemicals including acids, bases, oxidizing agents, hydrocarbons, salts and steam up to 200ºC (392°F).
Corrosion barrier
Highly resistant to H2S, CO2 and methanol corrosion over long periods of time; restricts rapid corrosion effects.
Permeation resistance
Significantly retards the rate of methanol permeation versus other thermoplastics (permeation rate ~100x better than Nylon11); high resistance to liquid permeation.
Hydrolysis and Steam resistance
Resistant to moisture that can damage electrical and dimensional performance; acts as a barrier under continuous exposure to water, brine & steam at high temperatures and pressures; steam resistant up to 200ºC (392°F) after 2,000 hours.
Mechanical strength
High levels of mechanical properties maintained in a wide range of aggressive environments and high temperatures; significantly higher strength and modulus than incumbent materials used in applications such as umbilical hoses.
Wear resistant
High wear, abrasion and erosion resistance, including cut through, with low friction and drag in aggressive environments.
Creep and Fatigue performance
Excellent creep and fatigue performance is maintained over long term, high temperatures and aggressive environments.
Dimensional stability
Resistant to change under temperature, moisture, chemical attack and physical stress.
Performs under RGD
Highly resistant to Rapid Gas Decompression (RGD), potentially protective against part damage and blow outs.
Wide Viscosity Range
VICTREX® PEEK polymer is available in a wide range of viscosities. From the High Flow polymers, designed for moulding of thin-walled intricate parts to 600G, designed for extrusion processes.
